To become fully licenced as a registered nurse (RN) or registered psychiatric nurse (RPN) in British Columbia, you must have current registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). CANADIAN EDUCATED NURSES
Registered nurses (RNs) or registered psychiatric nurses (RPNs) with current or previous registration in another Canadian jurisdiction, or RNs and RPNs who have recently graduated from a Canadian RN program, are eligible to apply directly to the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) for registration in BC.
INTERNATIONALLY EDUCATED NURSES
All nurses educated outside of Canada are considered to be internationally educated nurses (IENs). All international applicants (RNs and RPNs) are required to obtain a BCCNM approved credential assessment before applying to the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Upon assessment, nurses must then apply to the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION
Provisional registration allows applicants to practice as an RN or RPN in British Columbia while they wait to write the NCLEX-RN or RPNCE in order to meet a practice requirement of the regulatory body.
