Position Summary
The Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in conjunction with Providence Health Care (PHC) in Vancouver is seeking a full-time Academic General Otolaryngologist to join their 14-member group. The PHC Otolaryngology - Head and Neck program provides tertiary and quaternary level care to patients from all regions of British Columbia but also plays an essential role in providing general otolaryngologic care for patients in the Greater Vancouver area. The PHC Otolaryngology - Head and Neck service, together with the Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, University of British Columbia is involved in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education programs.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate experience and training in the management of patients with general OHNS disorders. They will have a private office outside of the hospital setting for which they will be personally responsible and will primarily be operating at Mount St. Joseph’s Hospital, Vancouver, B.C. On-call services will cover Providence Health Care facilities (Mount St. Joseph’s and St. Paul’s Hospitals) as well as being available for tertiary referral services for the province with a frequency of approximately one week in seven.
Payment is strictly a fee-for-service model through the Medical Services Plan of B.C.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Show evidence of exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills;
• Further advance the clinical and academic productivity, and strategic goals of the Division of
Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at PHC;
• Further the mandate of the Division for exceptional educational experiences for trainees, including UBC medical students, OHNS residents and other trainees; and
• Have a commitment and demonstrated interest in an area that would augment the Division such as, but not limited to, application of artificial intelligence to otolaryngology, sleep disordered breathing, database management and/or outcomes-based research.
Qualifications
Applicants must have certification in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) and be licensed or eligible for license in the Province of British Columbia. The successful applicant shall be appointed to the Department of Surgery at the University of British Columbia as a Clinical Faculty member at a level commensurate with their experience.
