Physician – CARE Program

BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre (BCW) is the only facility in British Columbia devoted primarily to the health of women, newborns and families. It provides a broad range of specialized women’s health services that address the health needs of women of all ages and backgrounds. BC Women’s is one of the largest maternity facilities in Canada, with over 7,000 births a year, and is both the major primary and secondary maternity services provider in the Lower Mainland and the cornerstone of the provincial tertiary care system.

As an academic health centre BCW’s mandate includes providing strong leadership in research and the education and professional development of health care professionals in areas related to the health of the populations we serve.

We are currently seeking a physician to enhance our interdisciplinary team within the CARE Program. In this role, you will apply current research evidence and best practice standards to address the medical needs of patients referred to the CARE program. The position will require you to be accountable and deliver quality care in accordance with established policies and values. The scope of your duties will extend to participation in major clinical activities and research within the hospital.

You are committed to your clinical practice and strive to provide the highest level of care possible to women. You will work with a strong team of physicians providing care to this population in a clinical setting. You will work in collaboration with program leadership to facilitate complex medical and ethical patient care plans. You are capable of problem solving, achieving results and developing coalitions. You lead by example, providing support and developing strong working relationships through inter-professional collaboration.

You will have advanced training and experience in family planning, and abortion services, including advanced surgical skills. You are registered with, or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada or College of Family Physicians of Canada and the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia. Leadership and/or administrative experience would be highly beneficial. The ideal candidate will have or be eligible for a faculty appointment at the University of British Columbia.
