Position Summary
Immediate opportunities exists for a Mental Health & Substance Use Registered Nurses or Registered Psychiatric Nurses to join the amazing Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) team with Supervised Consumption Services in Kelowna, B.C.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are seeking applicants with an understanding of supervised consumption services, knowledge of harm reduction principals and ability to work with clients with complex mental health and substance use disorders. Previous experience with the marginalized, homeless population would be helpful.

What Will You Work On?

The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurses functions as a member of the larger Mental Health and Substance Use team and as a member of a designated multi-disciplinary team. Their purpose is to ensure that persons with serious severe and persistent mental health problems, and/or problematic chronic substance use and/or development disability issues who may or may not be in crisis have access to timely, responsive, evidence based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services.

Working in the assigned clinical area(s),Complex Care Housing sites, the RN/RPN provides assessment, treatment intervention, case management, community support, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The Registered Nurse functions as a primary clinician utilizes a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

This is a PERMANENT FULL-TIME opportunity. Shifts of work are days and shift times are from 08:30 to 16:30 hours. There are always two clinicians on, and include nursing, social work and occupational therapy.

Qualifications
Graduation from an approved school of nursing.

Two years’ recent related MHSU experience in the assigned clinical area(s) (such as Counselling & Treatment Services; Treatment, Support & Recovery Services; Crisis Response; Seniors MHSU Services; Substance Use; Developmental Disability Mental Health Services (DDMHS), etc.) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)

Current valid B.C. driver’s license.

** Previous experience with the marginalized, homeless population would be an asset.
** Successful applicant must be willing to learn how to operate a Class 5 recreation vehicle.
