PHSA Physician Advisor, Spread Quality Improvement (SQI) Initiative

Vancouver BC



As per the current Public Health Order, full vaccination against COVID-19 is a condition of employment with PHSA as of October 26, 2021.



The Physician Advisor will provide leadership and support for the Spread Quality Improvement (SQI) Initiative working closely with the Quality Leader for Spread and the PQI team and, collaborating with partners at Doctors of BC, particularly the Provincial Spread Physician Co-Leads and the Staff lead at SSC. This will be a one-year, 0.1 FTE contract position with opportunity for renewal.


What you’ll do



Selection of Spread Projects:

Provide guidance, advice, and support for the selection process of PHSA Spread projects
Engage relevant health authority leadership in PHSA spread projects for both sending and receiving sites (including in other health authorities, when relevant)


Coaching of Spread Projects:

Provide regular, structured Quality Improvement (QI) coaching to sending/receiving sites including establishing regular touchpoints with projects
Provide QI training to spread sending and receiving sites as needed
Support sites with coaching and advice from inception, establishment of measures and data collection, to implementation, sustainability, and project closure
Utilize spread principles in providing guidance and advice to spread projects
Troubleshoot emerging issues


Communication and Sharing of Learnings

Champion the PHSA/SSC Spread Initiative at all levels of PHSA, utilizing both formal and informal communication channels
Collaborate closely with provincial partners at Doctors of BC (particularly the Provincial Spread Physician Co-Leads and the Staff Lead) and other health authorities
Share learnings within PHSA and provincially
Connect projects with PHSA and Ministry of Health strategic priorities
Provide reports at the PHSA/SSC PQI and Spread Steering Committee


What you bring



Advanced training in QI (e.g. graduate of the PQI program)
Experience in spreading and scaling up QI projects is preferred
Training in leadership, change management, and systems thinking
Experience leading multiple QI projects
