Role and Facility Information

Our Medical Clinic is a general family practice consisting of 8 physicians, each working 0.5 FTE of in clinic and telehealth time (i.e. 4 full-time physician equivalents in clinic). Each physician works within a dyad, with the in-clinic schedule mirroring that of their practice partner. For the past 3 years we have had a “rotating locum” working with us who provides a guaranteed 1 week of coverage approximately every 2.5 months (lots of negotiations and trades available, and if you do not want a week off there is always someone willing to take it instead!). There is generally excellent cross coverage from other practitioners in urgent situations and also as pre-arranged coverage agreements. We also have a few locums in the community who regularly cover within our clinic.
We do a substantial amount of the maternity care and hospital deliveries at Kelowna General Hospital. Obstetrical practice is not necessary, but if desired would be welcomed and regular call shifts available. Many of the physicians in the clinic work in a variety of capacities including as preceptors for UBC medical students and Family Practice Residents, doing surgical assisting, and as part of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). We have one full time RN working in the clinic.

The clinic is in a beautiful neighbourhood and conveniently located, which is immediately behind Kelowna General Hospital and directly across from Strathcona park and beach. There are a total of 10 exam rooms, large reception, a common physician office space, kitchen/lunch room, and medical processing/autoclave area. The building is newly constructed in 2017 and has a lower level storage room for secure bicycle storage and shower room. There is the locally owned Abbott Street Cafe on the main level and a pharmacy.

We are looking for one physician to join into a 0.5 FTE practice plus primary care obstetrical call is available if desired.
Clinic hours are Monday - Friday 9-4pm of booked appointments, option to book until 5pm some days
