Role and Facility Information

This is a modified walk-in clinic to support overflow needs for four physicians with patient panels at this practice and starting July 2022, two panels of "orphaned" patients. All patients are registered with updated medical records at this practice.

Information about this particular opportunity:

-MedAccess (well templated and set up for ease of use with telehealth)
-fully functional patient portal for online booking and secure patient messaging
-VOIP for use at home (Calls will appear to come from office when calling from your phone)
-well trained RNiP in office who works seamlessly with the whole team
-booking schedules can be customized to each physician to their suited volume
-minimum of 2 hours of tech training and onboarding (with more available as needed)

Finances: 75/25 split, full locum contract available on request

-we would like to confirm availability 2-3 months in advance
-we are looking for a half day to up to 4 days a week
-we are seeking both in-person and virtual shifts
-the walk-in-clinic inbox will be shared by 3-4 physicians, one day a week each physician will be responsible for the inbox with dedicated time to review and make follow up calls
-this inbox is only for the "orphaned patients". Tasks generated at WIC appointments for patients with an MRP will be followed up by the MRP

Meadowbrook Family Practice is located in central Coquitlam, B.C. This area has a lot to offer with a variety of popular amenities including restaurants, retail and grocery stores as well as Coquitlam Center Mall. This practice is easily accessible by public transit and is in close proximity to the Royal Columbian and Eagle Ridge Hospitals. The office is conveniently located in a medical building with a pharmacy, medical imaging clinic, and Lifelabs. The office space is a comfortable environment with lots of windows and natural lighting.

At Meadowbrook, there is an office manager, three MOAs, four physicians and a registered nurse. The nurse does immunizations, well baby checks, prenatal intake appointments, and is involved with complex care and advanced care planning. Collectively, the physicians in the group provide a wide range of services including full-term prenatal care, IUD insertions, lumps and bumps removal, and MSK steroid injections.

Meadowbrook Family Practice books by appointment only with a blend of advanced bookings and same day access. Typically, there is a two to four day wait time for non-urgent scheduled appointments. The operating hours are Mondays to Fridays from 8am-5pm and Saturdays from 9am-1pm. If interested, extended hours are also available. After hours telephone coverage is shared between the physicians for one week at a time. After hours call consists of an average of two to three calls a week, typically during daytime hours.

Meadowbrook has recently updated their technology to improve patient access and the physician experience. The clinic uses MedAccess EMR that is regularly customized to optimize workflow including chronic disease management and complex care workflows. Meadowbrook Family Practice maintains an up to date website. Online appointment booking and secure messaging are available via the Pomelo Patient Portal. Telehealth is set up with VOIP software for making telephone calls and Doxy.Me for video calls. There is onboarding support to customize your schedule. We can help to find an optimal balance of advanced booking and same day booking for both in-person and virtual appointments.

The team at Meadowbrook Family Practice strives to improve efficiency and provide quality service for patients, staff and physicians. Several physicians participate in teaching family practice residents. Teaching opportunities are supported, but not required. There is a longstanding tradition of mentorship for new physicians. The open physician workspace facilitates a supportive environment to ask questions and share clinical experience in real time.
