Island Health has a full-time vacancy available at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for an Obstetrician & Gynecologist.
Applicants will hold, or be eligible for, certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Obstetrics & Gynecology and be eligible for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
The successful candidates will participate in paid on-call coverage with 7 members (some of them part-time) at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (224 acute care beds) providing services to an immediate population of 125,000 and a secondary referral population of over 350,000.
Enjoy state-of-the-art operating rooms and a new perinatal unit with single room maternity care and a Level II Special Care Nursery with 1,200 deliveries per year.
Applicants must demonstrate experience as well as comfort working as part of an integrated care team with other hospital-focused specialist physicians and support colleagues, family physicians, midwives and nurses. Participation in teaching through the University of British Columbia (UBC) Island Medical Program is expected. The Department trains UBC R4/5 O&G Residents and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital is a UBC Postgraduate Family Practice Residency Program site.
Academic appointment through UBC is available to qualified applicant. Participation in the ongoing MORE-OB program is expected.
