Role and Facility Information

Northern Health is seeking a Family Physician with full-scope skills/experience to join a well-established, full-scope Family Medicine clinic in Fort St John BC, a young and growing community!

The expected commitment is 4 days/week (32 hours) in the clinic/office as well as hospital inpatient work. Clinic compensation is based on a blended funding model with hourly remuneration.

IN ADDITION to clinic work there is opportunity for Fee For Service income opportunities, including:

• ER 8 hour shifts available, up to 6 shifts per month
• Surgical assists (1-2 per month)
• Anesthesia shifts (if qualified)
• Maternity

Fort St. John Hospital is a new state-of-the art 55 bed hospital and 123 bed residential care facility serving a population of approximately 20,000 and a catchment area of approximately 69,000. The Emergency Room sees 25,000+ visits per year.

Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City” and is located at Mile 47 of the world famous Alaska Highway! The city has numerous restaurants, cafés, and a health food store. Fort St. John has seven elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and one private school (Kindergarten to Grade 12). Northern Lights College provides post-secondary education.

The region's main industries are agriculture, forestry, natural gas, construction, and transportation.
