Position Summary

We are looking for a patient focused team player who has the ability to work autonomously to fill a full time Rural and Remote Adult Mental Health & Substance Use Nurse opportunity. The RN/RPN will join our community mental health escalation team in Williams Lake, B.C.

What will you work on?

Practicing within a client and family centered care model, the Rural & Remote Adult Mental Health & Substance Use Nurse works as an integral part of an integrated mental health and substance use service. The Nurse provides urgent outreach, responsive assessment and treatment, case management, GP shared care, education, and support to individuals experiencing acute and/or chronic mental illness and/or problem substance use.

If you have strong experience in facilitating individual and group counselling and education, are a strong team-player, reliable, self-directed, have excellent communication skills, have a strong background in psychosocial rehabilitation and are a good problem solver individual, we want to hear from you.

About this location/unit

Interior Health offers a wide range of Psychiatric services in our region to meet the health needs of the communities we serve. The Rural and Remote MHSU nurse provides, assessment, treatment, case management, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. Further, the Rural and Remote MHSU nurse functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Education, Training and Experience:

Graduation from an approved school of nursing.

Two (2) years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
