Midwife - New Graduates
Fraser Health Authority - Division of Midwifery
Fellowship vacancies
The Fraser Health Authority (FHA) Division of Midwifery (DoM) within the Regional Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is pleased to offer temporary fellowship appointments for new registrant midwives for one year. These temporary midwifery fellowship appointments are intended to provide a one-year experience to support postgraduate consolidation of knowledge and skills. The DoM will consider applications from new graduates who are able to secure a commitment from an established FHA midwifery practice to work within a team mentorship framework for the full year. This mentorship should include a comprehensive orientation, regular chart review, and a plan for practical support throughout the term of the appointment.
Fraser Health Sites:
• Abbotsford Regional Hospital
• Burnaby Hospital
• Chilliwack General Hospital
• Langley Memorial Hospital
• Peace Arch Hospital
• Ridge Meadows Hospital
• Royal Columbian Hospital
• Surrey Memorial Hospital
New graduate midwives in the Midwifery Fellowship category will be granted temporary privileges to match their mentor practice site. Please note that the term of this appointment is limited to 12 months. There is no guarantee that there will be a vacancy available at the end of the year at any of the sites, and no preference regarding selections will be awarded to midwives who have held locum or temporary appointments. FHA DoM may limit the number of Midwifery Fellowship appointments at any site due to resource availability.
We welcome interested new graduates from Canadian midwifery education programs or Canadian bridging programs to submit a Letter of Interest, CV and Letter of Support from an established midwifery practice in FHA by April 15, 2022. No extensions will be granted. Interviews will be arranged for all temporary new graduate positions. The start date will commence for a one-year term no sooner than July 1, 2022, or as soon as the credentialing process is completed after that date.
The Letter of Support from the established midwifery practice should include the name of a primary contact midwife as well as the outline of how the new graduate will be mentored within the team practice.
