Perinatal Services BC is seeking a Provincial Medical Director to lead PHSA’s Maternity Services Strategy (MSS). The PMD will play an active leadership role in the development, implementation, and operation of prioritization processes and decision-making frameworks that will support the delivery of the Maternity Services Strategy. This strategy will lead B.C. toward province-wide maternity services where:

• Every person and family has access to predictable, high-quality, person-centred and culturally safe maternity care as close as home as safely possible;
• Providers are supported to work to their full scope of practice and in inter-professional collaborative teams and;
• The system is considered holistically and planned to match services to the needs of the population

The Provincial Medical Director will play a key role in leading systems and enriching a culture that promotes continuous improvement and pursuit of program excellence, applying current research evidence and best practice standards. In a collaborative operational dyad leadership model, the Medical Director will partner with the Executive Director to set and address provincial priorities in alignment with organizational objectives and mandates. As part of the Provincial Health Services Authority, the Medical Director will also contribute to provincial aims with opportunities for research and knowledge translation initiatives.

Along with specialty training in a relevant area of Obstetrics or Pediatrics, the candidate should be registered with or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada and the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia. Demonstrated research, leadership and/or administrative experience would be highly beneficial. The ideal candidate will have or be eligible for a faculty appointment at the University of British Columbia.
