Position Summary:
Providence Health Care (PHC) is seeking two Internal Medicine physicians to join the Acute Internal Medicine Service (AIMS) at St Paul’s Hospital in downtown Vancouver.

AIMS provides inpatient care to a diverse range of patients who require hospitalization for subacute and complex medical needs. This includes but is not limited to patients requiring hospital admission for non-operative fractures and trauma, monitoring of non-operative intracranial bleeds, and psychosocial concerns.

The AIMS team consists of two physicians and one nurse practitioner who care for 25-28 admitted patients. The team also collaborates with consulting physicians from surgery, psychiatry, and addictions medicine. Physicians work in shifts of 6 days per week from approximately 0730h-1530h and 1000h-1800h from Monday to Friday and 0800h-1800h on Saturday or Sunday. After hours coverage is provided by Clinical Associates.

Physicians receive compensation through a Group Service Contract at a rate of $188.70 per hour for the services provided. Shadow billing is required. We are seeking a minimum commitment of 12 weeks of service per year.

Qualifications
Successful candidates will be Licentiates of the Medical Council of Canada, hold a BC Medical License and current certificate with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of BC, and meet credentialing requirements at PHC. Qualified applicants will be licensed (or eligible for licensure) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC), have RCPSC certification, and ACLS certification.
