Northern Health is seeking an experienced Family Practice-Anesthetist to join a team of four FPAs in Fort St. John, a vibrant Northern city with a young and growing population!

Work 2 days/week in the OR, plus Anesthesia call 1/5 days. Emergency shifts or Primary Care can fill the remaining days.

Fort St John Hospital is a new state of the art 55 bed hospital and 123 bed residential care facility serving a population of approximately 21,000, with a catchment area of approximately 70,000. The ER has over 25,000 visits per year.

Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City” and is located at Mile 47 of the world famous Alaska Highway! The city has numerous restaurants, cafés, an artisan butcher shop, all major grocery stores, and a health food store. It is the cultural and commercial hub of the Northeast, with a performing and visual arts centre, library, art gallery and theatre.

Recreational opportunities in the Fort St. John area include speed-skating (on one of only four indoor Olympic-sized, long-track speed skating ovals in North America!), indoor walking track, indoor soccer, golf, tennis, yoga, dance, mountain biking, walking trails, hiking, boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hunting, camping, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, curling, and hockey. Fort St. John always has something for you to do whether it's summer or winter!

Our local airport offers numerous daily flights on Air Canada, WestJet, and Central Mountain Air.

Fort St. John has seven elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and one private school (K-12). Northern Lights College provides post-secondary education.

The region's main industries are agriculture, forestry, natural gas, construction, and transportation.

REEF (Rural Emergency Enhancement Funding) available when covering ER shifts. This is on top of MSP billings and MOCAP payments. MOCAP (Medical On Call Availability Program) available on top of MSP billings. Rural Education Action Plan (REAP) available. Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME) available. Relocation funding available: $9,000 if relocating within BC; $12,000 if relocating within Canada but outside of BC; $15,000 if relocating from outside of Canada. (Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) funding is subject to change without notice.)
