Anesthesiologist

The Fraser Health Authority (FHA), British Columbia's and Canada’s largest and fastest growing Health Region is seeking a qualified and dedicated part-time and full-time Anesthesiologist as well as locum Anesthesiologists at Surrey Memorial Hospital. Opportunities exist in Thoracic, Obstetric, General Adult and Pediatric Anesthesia. Surrey Memorial Hospital is a UBC affiliated tertiary referral setting.

The Department of Anesthesia currently has 28 members and participates in wide ranging perioperative care. There are two in house 24 hour on call anesthesiologists, one dedicated to the busy obstetrical ward and one for all other surgical emergencies. Surgical anesthesia includes orthopedics, urology, ENT/OMF, thoracic surgery, plastic surgery, general surgery and gynecology. Regular pediatric ENT and urology as well as pediatric general and orthopedic emergency surgery should be anticipated. The department maintains involvement in all aspects of perioperative care including pre-operative assessment and optimization, post-operative short term monitored care and an acute pain service. In addition to the tertiary care facility at SMH the department staffs the 6 OR Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgical Centre.

Applicants must be eligible for FRCPC certification (Anesthesiology) and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C.

Surrey Memorial is a 610 acute care bed, University of BC Affiliated, regional referral and community teaching hospital that has the busiest emergency in BC. We offer medical, surgical, neonatal intensive care, tertiary, ambulatory, cardiology, rehab, as well as 24/7 emergency services with 171,549 visits annually. The brand new ER includes a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department, part of the state-of the art Critical Care Tower includes a dedicated perinatal centre, helipad and expanded ICU.
