Role and Facility Information

Island Health is seeking physicians to work with a team of practitioners and other health providers to collectively deliver care to patients at James Bay Urgent and Primary Care Centre.

In this service contract position the physician will work collaboratively with an inter-disciplinary health care team to provide culturally safe urgent and primary care. Patient visits will consist of unscheduled urgent care and scheduled longitudinal full service or same day primary care patient visits. Family Practitioners will hold full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeon of BC (CPSBC) and certification with the College of Family Physicians (CCFP). The successful candidates will be required to obtain associate privileges at Royal Jubilee and Victoria General Hospitals.

Acting as the most responsible primary care provider, there is a requirement for the practitioner to establish a minimum patient panel.

After hours’ care for patients is inherent in the services. The family practitioner will participate in an after-hours call group, sharing after-hours coverage with other practitioners, to include physicians and nurse practitioners, at the clinic.

Remuneration: UPCC Service Contract


• Full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
