Role and Facility Information
In partnership with the Divisions of Family Practice Prince George, Northern Health is seeking several full service Family Physicians to provide primary patient care services. This includes both direct care and outpatient emergency services including after hours coverage as per MOCAP contract.
Prince George is a dynamic and supportive medical community where family physicians can be more engaged in a much broader spectrum of practice than many other similar sized communities. Physicians are able to develop expanded skills and experience in areas of interest. Many develop a number of practice interests over their careers. Training for such interests can be funded by the BC REAP (Rural Educational Action Plan).
The PG Division of Family Practice is one of the oldest Divisions who are very involved in improving the direction and shape off health care in Prince George
Some of the many options include:
• Longitudinal hospital inpatient work
• Doctor of the Day hospitalist work done by most of family practitioners ~ 1 day per month -session options: mental health, geriatrics, eating disorders, GP oncology, GP anaesthesia -native health practice -unattached patient (Blue Pine) clinic with a number of lower SES patients -emergency room work and trauma call -sexual assault call -GP obstetrics call
• The University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George is a University of British Columbia Family Medicine teaching site with > 60% of our graduates practicing in Prince George or smaller communities.
• The University of Northern BC Medical School offers a plethora of options to become involved in teaching at all levels.
• Home of the Northern Continuing Medical Education Program which offers a full program of medical education opportunities: http://ncme.ca/
• Very active innovative EMR (Electronic Medical Record) community using our home grown MOIS system.
• The home of AMCARE developed to allow physicians the ability to compare their anonymous patient data with other physicians while maintaining physician ownership and stewardship off the data.
