Burnaby Hospital – Plastic Surgery Division

Part-time | Job share transition re: retirement of surgeon

Plastic Surgery Division at Burnaby Hospital and the Fraser Heath Authority are looking to hire a plastic surgeon to join a group of four surgeons. The ideal applicant will have at least one year of post-graduate training in a field applicable to a community plastic surgery practice. It is expected that the applicant will have a strong interest in skin cancer, hand trauma and general plastic surgery procedures such as peripheral nerve and breast surgery.

The position posting is for a part-time surgeon to job share with another surgeon who plans to transition to retirement. Main OR time and ambulatory surgery time privileges will be shared among the newly recruited surgeon.

The group is affiliated with the University of British Columbia with teaching opportunities for medical students and residents, though this is not a primary residency training site. Multiple private clinics also offer resources in the area and offer space to do MSP approved and workers compensation cases. The successful applicant would also be able to work with the transitioning surgeon in Burnaby.

General plastic surgery call is currently 1 in 4. A MOCAP level 2 agreement provides an on call stipend.

Please forward letters of interest, a copy of your CV and four letters of reference. One letter of reference must include residency or fellowship program directors. If you have been in practice for at least four years, a letter from your chief of surgery will be accepted in lieu of your program supervisors.
