Specialty Ophthalmology

Subspecialty General

Role and Facility Information

The Island Health Division of Ophthalmology has a position for a general ophthalmologist to join two others at the Cowichan District Hospital. Fellowship training would be an asset. Eligible candidates will hold, or be eligible for, full FRCSC in ophthalmic surgery and full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C.

On-call responsibility is one in seven as it is shared with ophthalmologists in nearby Nanaimo.

The Cowichan District Hospital, a 134-bed acute care facility, enjoys an exceptionally collegial atmosphere amongst the general and specialty medical staff. Local specialist services include General and Orthopedic Surgery, Anesthesiology, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology and Radiology. We also anticipate a new hospital build over the next 5 years bringing added inpatient and ICU capacity as well as state-of-the-art equipment and design.
