Role and Facility Information


The division of Thoracic Surgery at Surrey Hospital serving the Fraser Health Authority in the greater Vancouver area located in beautiful British Columbia is seeking a fifth surgeon to join the existing group of four general thoracic surgeons. Our group serves a large metropolitan area of over 1.8 million people providing all general thoracic surgical services excepting lung transplant. The program is largely an advanced MIS program. Greater than 95% of our surgical volume is undertaken by minimally invasive surgical techniques. We also have a growing advanced endoscopy program offering EBUS, EUS, POEM, RFA and ESR. We have the only adult pectus program in western Canada

We are seeking a dynamic surgeon with demonstrated commitment to clinical and academic excellence. We are affiliated with the University of British Columbia. We train residents, medical students and thoracic surgery fellows. We have a local clinical fellowship program in advanced minimally invasive thoracic surgery. All surgeons have faculty appointments and are actively involved in formal didactic and bedside medical education. We are a shared practice with shared office space and central intake of all referrals.

Surrey Memorial is a 611 acute care bed, University of BC Affiliated, regional referral and community teaching hospital that has the busiest emergency in BC. We offer medical, surgical, neonatal intensive care, tertiary, ambulatory, cardiology, rehab, as well as 24/7 emergency services with 158,558 visits annually. We currently manage 4,200 births per year and have recently opened a new tower with a 46 bed single room maternity care unit, a 48 bed single room Level 2/3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a dedicated maternal operating room. The brand new ER includes a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department, part of the state-of the art Critical Care Tower includes a dedicated perinatal centre, helipad and expanded ICU.
