Specialty Nurse Practitioner

Role and Facility Information

This clinic is a new facility only 4 years old and currently has 5 full-time family practices, the High Complexity Care Team, and a large walk-in clinic. We are to be a team-based care clinic for the Western Communities Primary Care Network, and have approved Ministry/Island Health status for expansion into an adjacent 2000 square feet of space (4000 square feet total). This expansion will have us add two Nurse Practitioner and two Family Physician positions, as well as one Social Worker and Registered Nurse, for early 2021.

We have an extensive wait-list of unattached patients and expertise in building quick and efficient rosters. We offer experienced staff and an exceptional clinic manager (who is also a Registered Nurse). Lab and diagnostic imaging is literally across the road at the Victoria General Hospital. Eagle Creek Village also hosts a physio clinic, sleep clinic, optometry clinic, dental clinic, pharmacy, hearing/ENT clinic, surgical consultants, and internal medicine clinic (Revive). There are multiple restaurants and services on the site as well (e.g., Quality Foods), making it an ideal working location.

The EMR we use is OSCAR and we are a paperless medical clinic. Free parking is an added benefit, as is easy, ground floor access for our patients. We are an important teaching site for both medical students and residents through the University of British Columbia, and we would be happy to assist in the training of student NPs as our group evolves.

The positions offered here will be 'turnkey' and our experienced doctors will ensure that both new NPs and FPs are well supported and always encouraged for 'hallway consults' whenever needed. ECMC offers an innovative facility that will be one of the first fully-integrated team-based Primary Care Network clinics on the Island (representing an important collaboration between Island Health, the Ministry of Health, and the South Island Division of Family Practice). Indeed, our multi-disciplinary clinic will be highly attractive to energetic and hard-working NPs who are interested in collaborative primary care.
