Do you love working independently and enjoy a broader scope of practice? Island Health is actively seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner in Gold River.

As the Nurse Practitioner, you are responsible and accountable for the comprehensive assessment of patients, clients and residents including diagnosing diseases, disorders and conditions. You initiate treatments including health care management, therapeutic interventions and prescribe medications in accordance with the statutory and regulatory standards, limits and conditions, policy and guidelines. You provide professional guidance to other health professionals and practice autonomously and interdependently within the context of an interdisciplinary health care team, making referrals to physicians and others as appropriate.

This position collaborates with patients, clients, residents and other members of the interdisciplinary team to identify and assess trends and patterns that have implications for patients, clients, residents, families and communities.

In this role, you develop and implement population and evidence based strategies to improve health and participate in policy-making activities that influence health services and practices. The position participates in peer reviews and self-reviews to evaluate the outcome of services at the patient, client, resident, community and population level.

• Registration with BC College of Nursing Professionals as a practicing NP registrant (or eligible).
• Successful completion of the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination).
• Two years of recent, relevant clinical nursing experience.

This is a unique opportunity to live in Gold River, a village of approximately 1,500 people. Located in North Central Vancouver Island, Gold River is known for its access to famous hiking trails (Nootka Island trek and the Golden Hinde – Vancouver Island’s highest peak). It’s approximately an hour and half drive west of Campbell River.
