Role and Facility Information

If you are a Registered Nurse with Hemodialysis training and experience, we have a relief part-time opening in our Kamloops North Shore Diagnostic Centre. Applicants must be certified in hemodialysis to apply.

The Kamloops North Shore Diagnostic Centre only does hemodialysis. Currently the team has 4 RNs and 1 LPN. Nephrologists and leadership are primarily at the hospital site but do come to the unit as well.

Kamloops North Shore consists of three sites:
• North Shore Health Science Centre – Specialized Programs
• Primary Care Clinic
• Northills Centre – Home Health Services, Primary Care Clinic, Lab Collection, Seniors Health & Wellness Center

Reporting to the Manager of Renal Services, the Registered Nurse Hemodialysis provides nursing care and support to patients and families living with chronic kidney disease or kidney related problems who may be attending the Royal Inland Hospital for medical care and hemodialysis.

The primary responsibilities of this position are the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in a primary care setting. Working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse ensures the delivery of client–centered care by assisting individual clients and their families respond to changing health care needs. The Registered Nurse demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.

This relief is until November 22, 2021 or return of the incumbent. Days of work are rotating and shift times are 06:30 to 18:30 and 06:30 to 14:30 hours.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP)
• Completion of a recognized nephrology nursing certificate program plus two years recent related general duty nursing experience; OR completion of a recognized nephrology nursing certificate program plus one year recent related critical care nursing experience
• One year recent related hemodialysis nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current BCLS certification required. Valid BC Driver’s License required.
