Working towards a world free from cancer, BC Cancer covers the entire spectrum of cancer care, from prevention and screening to diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.

BC Cancer provides a comprehensive cancer control program for the people of British Columbia in partnership with regional health authorities to deliver a range of cancer services, which include prevention, screening and early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation and palliative care. It operates six regional cancer centres in Surrey, Kelowna, Vancouver, Victoria, Abbotsford and Prince George, along with two research centres that conduct research into the causes and cures for cancer.

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer of BC Cancer, the Senior Executive Director, Medical Affairs and Quality is a key member of the BC Cancer Senior Executive Leadership team, and is responsible for the overall strategic leadership of BC Cancer’s Medical Affairs and Quality portfolios. The Senior Executive Director oversees compliance with established policies, procedures, practices standards, medical staff by-laws and rules. The Senior Executive Director ensures appropriate clinical quality assurance, risk management, and patient safety strategies are in place. The Senior Executive Director makes executive-level decisions that have broad implications and complexity; ensures appropriate stakeholder engagements are made both internally and externally.

The successful candidate will be a Medical Doctor with current (or eligibility) registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, with experience in an oncology environment. An advanced degree in Business Management (MBA), Masters in Health Care Administration, Physician Management Institute or equivalent is preferred. Academic experience would also be desirable. The individual will be eligible for or appointment to the staff of BC Cancer.
