BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH) cares for the province’s most acutely ill or injured children and youth, provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and offers a broad range of health services. The UBC Department of Pediatrics and BCCH are seeking a pediatric hepatologist who will provide clinical care, education and participate in the research activities of the division. The current need is for individuals with expertise and interest in liver/ hepatobiliary disease and includes but is not restricted to, candidates with capacity for a senior administrative leadership role as Division Head.

The Division is a provincial resource serving a total population base of 4.2 million and provides a broad range of consultative services and inpatient care. The Division currently has seven full-time and two part time faculty members with ongoing plans for expansion over the next several years. The Division is recognized for its basic science and clinical research programs with strengths in host defense, clinical epidemiology, public health, inflammatory bowel disease and liver disease. The Division has a Royal College accredited fellowship training program.

Applications are invited from clinicians, clinician-scientists and clinician-investigators with potential to thrive in a busy clinical and academic environment. As the successful candidate, you will have demonstrated a commitment to pediatric hepatology with excellence in providing a high level of quality clinical care, academic research and teaching. Candidates also with interest in pursuing an administrative leadership opportunity as Director of the Division’s Liver Program or Division Head are encouraged to apply. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applicants must be eligible to obtain a specialist license to practice medicine in British Columbia as well as have sub-specialty training in pediatric gastroenterology/hepatology and be a Fellow or be eligible for Fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
