Role and Facility Information

The Island Health Division of Otolaryngology has a position for a general otolaryngologist to join three others at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Sub-specialty training would be an asset. Eligible candidates will hold, or be eligible for, full FRCSC in otolaryngology head and neck surgery and full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C.

On-call responsibility is one in five as it is shared with otolaryngologists in nearby Duncan. Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (224 acute care beds) enjoys state-of-the-art surgical suites and ambulatory/endoscopy clinics. The hospital has full diagnostic capabilities, including a 64-slice CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, a cancer clinic and critical care intensivists and is a UBC Postgraduate Family Practice Residency program site.

The Nanaimo medical community totals over 200 physicians with strong primary care physicians and a full array of skilled specialist colleagues who serve a population of 160,000 and secondary referral services to a population of 250,000.
