Role and Facility Information

The Fraser Health Authority (FHA), British Columbia's and Canada’s largest and fastest growing Health Region serving a population of 1.7 million is seeking qualified and dedicated Part Time Tertiary Neonatologist at Surrey Memorial Hospital.

Surrey Memorial Hospital is located in the heart of the Fraser Health region has 48 beds single room NICU, of which 32 beds are in operation with the future expansion to full capacity. It maintains strong collaboration with the other hospitals in the region and is affiliated with the University of British Columbia Medical School teaching program.

The Neonatologist will be part of the 1 in 8 rotation. The successful Candidate will need to participate in Teaching UBC students and residents. He/she will also be expected to participate in developing the Neonatology program at SMH.

The position is scheduled to start soon after job competition is closed.

The successful candidates must meet the following qualifications:

Must have passed the Royal College Examination in Paediatrics

He/she must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of BC

He/she must demonstrate evidence of sufficient clinical experience in all areas of Neonatology

Experience and demonstrated skills in teaching and clinical policy development will be considered as an asset.

Candidates with experience/certification in echocardiography, point of care ultrasound and/or neonatal neurology will be viewed preferentially.

Surrey Memorial is a 611 acute care bed, University of BC Affiliated, regional referral and community teaching hospital that has the busiest emergency in BC. We offer Medical, Surgical, Paediatrics, Neonatal intensive care, tertiary, ambulatory, cardiology, rehab, as well as 24/7 emergency services with 158,558 visits annually. We currently manage 4,200 births per year and have recently opened a new tower with a 46 bed single room maternity care unit, a 48 bed single room Level 2/3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a dedicated maternal operating room. The brand new ER includes a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department, part of the state-of the art Critical Care Tower includes a dedicated perinatal centre, helipad and expanded ICU.
