BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH) cares for the most acutely ill or injured children and youth in the province of British Columbia, provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and offers a broad range of health services. BCCH also operates a wide number of specialized health programs, is a leading acute care teaching facility, and conducts research to advance health and care through the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute and in partnership with the University of British Columbia.

Infectious Diseases Specialist and Infection Prevention and Control Physician

Reporting to the Division Head of the Division of Infectious Diseases, the responsibilities of this locum position include direct patient care (inpatient and outpatient), day to day management of patients as expected of a physician, including performing procedures, writing physician orders, attending rounds and team meetings and documenting a patient’s care, teaching and clinical and/or laboratory research when appropriate. In addition, working in conjunction with the PHSA Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC), the infection control officers, and other IPAC team members, you will participate in administrative and clinical IPAC work, quality improvement, clinical research, and teaching, and provide guidance on provincial, national and international standards.

To be considered for this position, you must have a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Medical Degree, Residency in Pediatrics, and Fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases, and must be eligible for registration with the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons. Additional experience in infection prevention and control would be an asset.

You possess excellent clinical skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with families in the care of children. You are committed to best practice and advancing knowledge in your field of practice. Additionally, you demonstrate excellence in and commitment to teaching across the spectrum of learners. Strong inter-professional skills in working in complex environments and commitment to a clinical academic sub-specialty environment will ensure your success in this role.
