Specialty Nurse Practitioner

Role and Facility Information

Island Health is seeking nurse practitioners to work with a team of practitioners and other health providers to collectively deliver care to patients at James Bay Urgent and Primary Care Centre.

In this service contract position the nurse practitioner will work collaboratively with an inter-disciplinary health care team to provide culturally safe urgent and primary care. Patient visits will consist of unscheduled urgent care and scheduled longitudinal full service or same day primary care patient visits.

Acting as the most responsible primary care provider, there is a requirement for the practitioner to establish a minimum patient panel.

After hours’ care for patients is inherent in the services. The nurse practitioner will participate in an after-hours call group, sharing after-hours coverage with other practitioners, to include physicians and nurse practitioners, at the clinic. Schedules are managed mutually amongst the practitioners to ensure availability and continuity of care for patients.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Remuneration: Service contract; Ministry NP U&PCC service rate

Additional Information: Part-Time (0.31 FTE) position available

Qualifications:

• Full licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Nurse Practitioners (BCCNP)

• Experienced primary care providers capable of supporting breadth of patient complexities and urgent care services

• Obtain associate privileges at Royal Jubilee and Victoria General Hospitals
