Role and Facility Information

Vancouver Home Hospice Palliative Care Service is recruiting for the position of Palliative Care Physician. The position is 4-5 sessions per week and will involve consultations in patient homes. There is also expectation of participation in the Home Hospice Palliative Care Service MOCAP group call rotation. The anticipated start date is April 1, 2020, but is negotiable.

The ideal candidate will have strong palliative care clinical skills and be comfortable managing the care of patients in the community palliative care setting. The candidate must have good communication skills and a value for working with an interdisciplinary team to provide consultation to generalists. The ideal candidate will also have an active interest in teaching palliative care fellows and with the potential to being involved in research.

Qualifications:
A Medical Degree, current license or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia, and active CMPA coverage (or equivalent).
In addition, should meet at least one of the following criteria:
(1) Recognized with a Certificate of Added Competency in Palliative Care by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP-PC);
(2) Completed “Year of Added Competency” training in Palliative Care at an accredited training site;
(3) Certified as a Palliative Medicine Specialist by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (PRPSC);
(4) Holder of Palliative Medicine credentials earned in another jurisdiction that are acceptable to both the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia and the governing body of the Health Authority and its Affiliates.

The successful candidate will also be required to join the Medical Staff of VCH Vancouver if not already a member.

Estimated Remuneration
Remuneration will be in accordance with the Doctors of BC/MSP negotiated sessional and MOCAP contracts (templates available on the Doctors of BC and Government of BC websites). All overhead costs are born by the health authority and the contract can be renewed on a yearly basis.
