Radiation Oncologist
BC Cancer - Victoria BC

BC Cancer - Victoria is a medium-sized, academic cancer centre, servicing the whole of Vancouver Island and Southern Gulf Islands. We are seeking a full-time staff radiation oncologist to join our staff of 17 Radiation Oncologists and one General Practitioner in Oncology, working within the provincial Radiation Therapy program at BC Cancer.

BC Cancer - Victoria has 6 Varian Truebeam linear accelerators, one with high resolution multileaf collimation and one 6 degrees of freedom couch, an orthovoltage unit, 2 CT simulators, and diagnostic CT-PET. We have well-established programs in prostate and gynecologic brachytherapy and a growing stereotactic program that treats almost all anatomic sites. Annually, we treat approximately 3000 patients per year with radiotherapy.

Our department has an active academic program; the successful applicant will be expected to deliver excellent patient care and be involved in teaching of medical students and residents, clinical trials, and clinical research. Expertise in stereotactic radiotherapy is highly desirable, as is expertise in clinical research. Participation within the provincial tumour groups is also encouraged. The successful applicant will have a clinical appointment at UBC Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Division of Radiation Oncology, and will have privileges through both the Provincial Health Services Authority, and our partner health authority at the Royal Jubilee Hospital.

Victoria, “The City of Gardens”, is one of Canada’s most beautiful cities and offers the country’s most temperate year-round climate, with “Big city” amenities in a smaller city setting. Vancouver Island is known for its spectacular Pacific Ocean beaches, ski hills, sailing, hiking and fishing.

The successful applicant must be eligible for licensure in British Columbia, must have obtained a Fellowship in Radiation Oncology from the RCPSC or hold an equivalent qualification by the time of appointment, and must meet the requirements for appointment to medical staff of BC Cancer and Royal Jubilee Hospital. Canadian Immigration regulations accord preference to Canadian citizens and landed immigrants.
