Role and Facility Information

Royal Columbian Hospital Cardiac Services is looking for physicians to assist with their cardiac surgical

program. This involves assist of the cardiac surgeon and harvesting of vein and radial artery. Cases start at 8:00 am, 5 days a week and the assists are, typically, involved in 2 cases a day. Training to competency usually requires 4-6 months. It would be expected that new assist commit to 3-4 days a week for the initial 4-6 months to achieve competency and join the regular schedule. After the training period, a commitment of 2-4 days a week is expected. Some previous surgical experience is an asset.

On-Call: Yes, after a period of training, approximately 6 months from start date

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 8am – case completion

Compensation Type: Fee-for-Service

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License: Mandatory

• Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP): Eligible

• Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA): Mandatory
