Specialty Medical Laboratory Technologist

Role and Facility Information

Our Histology team is seeking a flexible and reliable Medical Laboratory Technologist to join their welcoming team at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC.

East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) is a 75 bed acute care hospital with a medium size Laboratory offering Core Lab, Microbiology, Histopathology and Specimen Accession services. It is considered a regional referral site for selected testing and there are 30 Medical Technologists and 25 Med Lab Assistants employed in the various areas of the lab.

Working as an MLT in the Histology department, you can expect to work in a team based environment and perform a variety of duties including receiving and accessioning of specimens, embedding and sectioning of surgical specimens. The MLT will perform manual and automated staining as well as entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), maintaining instruments and preparing solutions and reagents.

This is a relief full-time position until approximately October 2020 or the return of the current incumbent. Days of work are Monday to Friday and shift times are 06:30-14:30, 07:00-15:00 and 08:00-16:00.
