Role and Facility Information

Vancouver Community Mental Health Services is currently looking for a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric care to clients of the Child and Adolescent Response Team. The psychiatrist who accepts this position will provide urgent/short term psychiatric care as part of a multi-disciplinary team that supports a culturally diverse population of children and youth in Vancouver, BC. This position is one day a week or 0.2 FTE.

We are currently in the process of making mental health care for children and youth accessible, innovative and of the highest quality. Given the challenges faced by this population we will be looking for a psychiatrist who is creative and interested in innovative approaches to providing for the mental health needs of our client. The physician interested in this position should be prepared to work with a diverse population and be aware of cultural issues in the work.

The psychiatrist will be involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of programs. There are additional opportunities to provide training and to conduct research. Participation in the community-based on-call group is optional. Time and scheduling are negotiable and opportunities at other mental health teams may be available.
