Position Summary

Interior Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist with interest in a permanent, part-time (62 hours bi-weekly) at Overlander Extended Care facility located in Kamloops, BC. In this position the Therapist is the primary Occupational Therapist for the facility.

Overlander is a 183 bed long-term care facility that believes that each person is a unique and valuable individual who will be treated with respect and dignity. We encourage the involvement of the residents, their family and friends in decision making.

In accordance with professional standards and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC), in this position the Occupational Therapist works independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team providing occupational therapy services that include assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription and education of residents and/or their caregivers to promote functional independence and enable the resident to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes.

As the Occupational Therapist you contribute to the organization and the overall goals of the profession and department; participate in departmental/program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research, and education; and provide work direction to the rehabilitation assistants working with the rehabilitation team.

There is opportunity to provide input to the Manager by participating in the development of guidelines and procedures, research and continuous quality improvement initiatives for the department. There is expectation to perform administrative duties as required.

Days of work are Monday to Friday (08:00 to 14:45 hours) with weekends and statutory holidays off. This position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits plan that includes coverage for basic Medical Services, Dental Services, and Extended Health.
