Role and Facility Information

Join a group of pediatricians and neonatologists at the Royal Columbian Hospital and Eagle Ridge Hospital, serving large population of Fraser North communities of New Westminster, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody and others, Lower Mainland’s central location with most affordable, family-friendly housing, good schools and outdoor activities. RCH is one of the designated pediatric referral centres, accepting variety of pediatric conditions, including step down care for our level III NICU graduates.

The outpatient program offers outpatient IV therapies, burn care and rapid access assessments. Our general pediatricians participate in medical teaching activities with residents and students via UBC campus located at RCH, currently sharing approximately 20 hours per week, attending elective c-sections, ER referrals, and follow up clinics. RCH is expected to expand in the coming years and the successful candidates will be able to build a viable community-based practices in Tri-City area, in association with hospital work and teaching activities.

Preference will be given to Canadian certified pediatricians with sub-specialty qualifications, special skills or special interests. FRCPC Eligible.

Royal Columbian Hospital is a provincial referral hospital (tertiary/trauma care centre) located in New Westminster, BC, with 422 acute beds that is a University of BC Affiliated teaching hospital that offers medical, surgical, advanced diagnostics & imaging, critical care, inpatient pediatrics, levels 1 & 3 obstetrics, outpatient clinics, level 2 & 3 neonatology, cardiac surgery, neurosciences, and tertiary programs as well as 24/7 emergency services with 71,500 visits annually.

The Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment is a multi-year, multi-phase project to increase the hospital's capacity, beds and services. Phase one is underway and includes multiple projects, many which prepare the hospital’s infrastructure for future expansion as well as a new 75-bed mental health and substance use wellness centre with more outpatient clinics by late 2019/early 2020. Phase two, if approved by government, proposes to add an acute care tower with more beds for intensive care, cardiac intensive care, obstetrics and medicine/surgical and a new larger emergency by late 2022. Phase three proposes to upgrade existing buildings to support areas in the Health Care Centre, such as the laboratory and pharmacy, by 2025.
