Position Summary

We are seeking a critical care nurse to become a member of our Emergency and Intensive Care Nursing Team.

This position qualifies for a $10,000 rural signing bonus. **Due to Collective Agreement pay-scale adjustments, effective Feb 1, 2019, the pay scale is now $34.15 - 44.83**

Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) is a community hospital within Interior Health and plays an important role in meeting the healthcare needs of the people in the Williams Lake and surrounding areas. Because CMH is a rural site, our nurses do it all and receive a wide range of experience.

CMH’s Critical Care department consists of an Emergency and Intensive Care Unit. The Emergency Room has one trauma room, a minor surgery room, five monitoring bays, a gyne room that is also the negative pressure room, a designated observation unit, and a two-bay cast room. Our ER sees approximately 21,000 patient visits a year and the staffing complement consists of a RN/LPN mix with Patient Care Coordinator coverage 0900-2000hrs 7 days a week. ED Physicians covering 24/7. The hospital has a robust complement of anesthetic, surgical and OB/Gyne coverage. The ER Department is a tight knit group that work as an interdisciplinary team, have a great rapport and receive wonderful physician support. Our ICU is a 3 bed unit that is located in close proximity to the ED. This unit is staffed by 1 nurse and is supported by the Patient Care Coordinator, Respiratory Therapist, Physiotherapist, Pharmacy and Dietician. We also have a Social Worker and Aboriginal Navigator to make up the care team.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be flexible, a good communicator and critical thinker.

Graduation as a Registered Nurse from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).

Advanced preparation in a critical care clinical specialty and 2 years related clinical experience aligned with unit specific competencies or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 3 years.

TNCC/EPICC, ACLS, and ENPC would be an asset.
