Role and Facility Information

The Island Health Division of Plastic Surgery has a part-time position for a plastic surgeon to join four others at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Eligible candidates will hold FRCSC in Plastic Surgery, have full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, and have a fellowship in breast reconstruction. You will participate in paid on-call coverage with six other members, as on-call is shared with Campbell River colleagues.

Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (224 acute care beds) enjoys state-of-the-art surgical suites, access to a private surgical centre located adjacent to the hospital, a hand clinic staffed by 4 certified Hand Therapists, and a wound clinic staffed by 2 wound care specialists. The Hospital has full diagnostic capabilities, including a 64-slice CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, cancer clinic and critical care intensivists and is a UBC Postgraduate Family Practice Residency program site. The Nanaimo medical community totals over 200 physicians with strong primary care physicians and skilled specialist colleagues who serve a population of 160,000 and secondary referral services to a population of 428,000.
