Role and Facility Information

Northern Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Primary Care Clinic in Chetwynd. The successful candidate will join 5 family physicians and nursing and support staff.

The new Chetwynd Primary Care Clinic boasts over 6000 square feet of nature-inspired design, harmonizing with the facility’s natural surroundings. It contains 12 exam rooms, office space and 1 procedure / CPR room with AED. Services provided in the clinic include:

• Public Health Nursing

• Home & Community Nursing

• Home Support

• Aboriginal Liaison

• Mental Health and Addictions

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible and accountable for the comprehensive assessment of patients/ clients/residents including diagnosing diseases, disorders, and conditions. The Nurse Practitioner initiates treatment including health care management, therapeutic interventions and prescribes medications in accordance with the statutory and regulatory standards, limits, and conditions, and employer policies and procedures. The Nurse Practitioner provides professional guidance to other health professionals and practices autonomously and interdependently within the context of an interdisciplinary health care team, making referrals to specialist physicians and others as appropriate.

To be successful, you must be eligible for registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the BC College of Nursing and Midwives (BCCNW), have completed or be eligible to complete the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), and have recent relevant clinical nursing experience.
