Nursing practice in the Radiation Therapy program at BC Cancer relies on assessment skills, interventions, and good communication skills. It includes team work as the nurses work closely with the radiation oncologists, radiation therapists, and team clerks to support patients and their family members with the specialized cancer treatment.

Job Summary:

Utilizing evidence-based practice, the Registered Nurse, Radiation Therapy is responsible for providing holistic nursing care to oncology patients during their cancer care experience, including, but not limited to: assessment, intervention, symptom management, treatment coordination and administration, teaching, counselling, support, and follow up consistent with established policies and standards of care.

Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Experience

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
Current CPR (Level C) certification.
One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated relevant clinical knowledge.
Demonstrated ability to apply clinical knowledge in practice.
Demonstrated ability to utilize clinical and information technology to enhance patient care in accordance with agency policies.
Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with patients, the public, and all levels of staff both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to organize patient care and set priorities.
Physical ability to perform duties of the position.
