Specialty Medical Laboratory Technologist

Role and Facility Information

We are eager to hire a Laboratory Site Coordinator to join our team in Tofino, BC.

Reporting to the Chief Technologist, Central Cluster, you will be responsible for coordinating and directing the day-to-day operations and supervising designated staff. This will involve meeting established annual objectives, participating in policy and procedure development and implementation as well as program and service design and delivery planning, implementation and evaluation. You will also be accountable for an assigned budget and provide input on capital and operating budgets.

Lastly, you will collaborate with Chief Technologist, Team leaders Support & Community Services, Technical Coordinators and staff to ensure that assigned Laboratory Medicine services are efficient, effective and support client/patient care goals and objectives.


In addition to Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you have successfully completed a recognized diploma program in Medical Laboratory Technology.

Although equivalencies may be considered, you ideally have completed courses in hospital or business administration, supervisor or leadership training courses, and 3 years of recent experience, including 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

Demonstrated knowledge of integrated computerized clinical laboratory information systems such as CERNER, and clinical laboratory best practice principles, procedures protocols and equipment is essential.
