Position Summary

In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization and as a member of a multidisciplinary team within a person and family centred model of care, the Physiotherapist practises in accordance with the professional standards and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Physical Therapists of BC. The physiotherapist works sole charge under the administrative direction of the Manager for Rehab Services for Prince Rupert, Haida Gwaii and the Coastal Communities. The physiotherapist maintains an active caseload and provides safe, competent, and ethical care for people and their families in a combination of settings such as inpatients, outpatients, and complex care across Haida Gwaii (clinics located in the Haida Gwaii Hospital and Northern Haida Gwaii Hospital and Health Clinic). Through clinical assessment, treatment planning, recommended interventions, and follow up, the physiotherapist contributes to the fulfilment of the overall plan of care developed by the interprofessional team and informed by the person’s personal goals for care. The Physiotherapist will support the person and their families to achieve and maintain optimal health by performing the duties and responsibilities outlined below.

Qualifications

- Current full registration with the College of Physical Therapists of BC (CPTBC).

- 4 years physiotherapy experience is an asset.

- A valid BC Driver’s License.

Assessment and Treatment: Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing assessments and utilize appropriate, therapeutic interventions.

Teaching: Ability to teach people and their families and others both one-on-one and in groups.

Knowledge Integration: Integrates best practice and current research evidence to support professional practice decisions and actions.

Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people and their families as well as the public, physicians and members of the interdisciplinary team. Ability to effectively resolve interpersonal differences.

Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively.

Human Caring and Relationship Centred Practice: Ability to promote person centred care which includes maintaining sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences, social justice concerns and the need for advocacy.

Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives and priorities and achieve results.

Leadership: Promotes staff morale and engagement; demonstrates creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self and others.

Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of person centred care.

Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Windows based programs.

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Wage: $33.77 - $42.13
