Role and Facility Information

The Department of Emergency & Critical Care Medicine, Division of Emergency Medicine is seeking two physicians for two part-time (0.5 FTE) permanent positions. We are a group of enthusiastic ERP's with CCFP and ABEM certification.

The ER sees around 125 visits per day. We have recently started a Rapid Access and Diagnostic Virtual Unit (RADU) which has added a new shift 7 days a week from 8 am until 1600. This unit manages patients meeting strict criteria who are likely to be discharged within 24hrs of admission. The RADU person also supports the ED and eventually the hospital with a proceduralist service. We have double coverage from 10:30 to 24:30 every day and some triple coverage on weekends.

We are looking for someone willing to work ER and RADU shifts. The work will be half time with flexibility based on group needs.

We are affiliated with the University of British Columbia’s Island Medical Program and participate in teaching of medical students and residents.

Plans are underway for a new hospital in the Cowichan Valley to be built in the next 5-10 years.
