Role and Facility Information

We are looking for a third internist to join us in Powell River, offering 24 hour 7 days a week on call Level 1 MOCAP services to VCH affiliated Powell River General Hospital.

We provide outpatient consultative services as well, with office space available, EMR (electronic medical record) in existence. Local cardiopulmonary lab offers stress testing and spirometry.

The hospital consists a full service EDR, 4 bed closed ICU, 18 bed medical surgical ward, 8 psychiatry beds, and 4 maternity beds.

Out patient services include an hemodialysis unit, oncology, and radiology services, which of course offers both in patient and outpatient services.

Additional local specialty services include 3 general surgeons, ophthalmology, obstetrics/gynecology, 3 GP anesthesiologists, 2 psychiatrists and visiting speciality services (respirology, rheumatology, nephrology)

Skills necessary include management of critically ill patients, to include ventilator experience, central line placement, transvenous pacemaker placement, cardioversions. Other beneficial skills include bone marrow biopsies, paracentesis and thoracentesis.

We require each applicant to apply for Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) for our clinic. Must be board certified in Canada.
