Role and Facility Information

The centre is a regional service hub which provides transitional housing for refugee populations, as well as targeted services for newcomers to Canada all under one roof. The clinic provides primary health care to the refugee and immigrant populations in Metro Vancouver, as well as to other members of the community.

Currently servicing the clinic are 4 GPs and allied health including nurses, a counselor, and a psychologist. They have 5 exam rooms, and each physician is responsible for their own on call patients if they are permanent. The clinic is open to physicians interested in working locum shifts or joining as an associate.

Translation services are available, but it would be an asset to be able speak a second language such as Arabic, French, Spanish, or Punjabi. The clinic is easily accessed on transit and employee parking is limited, but an arrangement can be made with a neighbouring church.

Note: The government of BC recently announced its vision for an integrated system of primary care across the province with Primary Care Networks (PCNs) as the backbone to a team-based approach. The objective of the first phase of implementation, beginning in 2018, is to increase the number of British Columbians who have access to quality primary care and are attached to a primary care provider. In support of this, funding has been allocated for up to 200 GPs and 200 NPs to work in interdisciplinary teams as part of Primary Care Networks. This clinic is open to hosting Family Doctors that are interested in the Fee-for-Service or the new PCN APP salary positions.
