The Department of Anesthesia of Island Health seeks an energetic and dedicated full-time anesthesiologist to join our team of 16 members in Nanaimo.

Eligible applicants must hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Anesthesiology and are be eligible for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C.

The Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (224 acute care beds) enjoys 11 state of the art operating rooms. NRGH serves an immediate population of 125,000 and a secondary referral population of over 300,000. The Nanaimo medical community has strong primary care physicians, skilled specialist colleagues and provides on-site CT, MRI and nuclear medicine. Surgical services include: Orthopedics, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, ENT, Urology, Plastics, Oral-Maxillofacial and Pediatric Dentistry. Critical care support includes an 11 bed ICU and 3 bed Surgical Step-Down unit. There is also the opportunity to provide anesthetic care in two non-hospital surgical facilities.

Affiliated with the University of British Columbia, and the Island Medical Program, responsibilities will include both direct clinical care and teaching of medical students and residents.
