Hospitalist

Fraser Health is seeking a physician interested in working at Peace Arch Hospital beginning July 1st (start date negotiable) for a Full or Part Time opportunity. The Hospitalist will play a valuable role on the core service team at PAH. Applicants should have a strong interest in developing a permanent acute care hospital practice and working collaboratively with all members of the inter-professional team, including other physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, and Allied Health staff. Primary responsibilities include admission and management of “unattached” patients as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP), as well as supportive care for some surgical and specialty medical patients. Peace Arch Hospital is a community hospital, committed to a culture of collaborative, inter-professional team based care.

This job requires superior clinical and communication skills, along with exceptional bedside manner and people management abilities. Our team members must be proficient with the range of community resources available, and work collaboratively with community-based physicians to optimize discharge planning processes and patient care planning. The shift length will be 6 pm to midnight, with take-home call, compensated through MOCAP until 7 am the following day.

Eligibility: Candidates must be licensed or (eligible for licensure) with College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) and have either CCFP (or equivalent) or FRCP credentials. Certification in ACLS is strongly suggested. Hospitalist experience and membership in professional hospital medicine societies is an asset.

Compensation: The current contract pays $157.48/hr. Full time work is considered a minimum of 1680 hours of work annually.
