General Surgeon

A job share position in General Surgery is available in Chilliwack. The successful applicant will join 2 other general surgeons in splitting 2 FTE’s, each surgeon working 2/3 time. OR time and endoscopy time are currently one day per week each and call is 1:4 for each FTE. These resources will be equally allocated and rotated between the 3 surgeons in the job share. A similar job share arrangement is already in place for the other 2 FTE general surgical positions at this site and the arrangement is working well.

Chilliwack General has 24 surgical beds and 8 ICU beds. It is a teaching site for 6 medical students and 16 Family Practice residents annually. The hospital is supported by full service General Practitioners, as well as a large compliment of Internal Medicine physicians with a variety of subspecialist interests, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics, Urology, ENT, and Pediatrics. Diagnostic imaging is on site, with the exception of MRI which is available in Abbotsford.

The successful applicant will be flexible, enthusiastic and collegial. They will have their Royal College exams by the time the position starts in the summer of 2018. It is hoped that the successful surgeon will engage with the medical staff at our site as well as embrace the larger community of Chilliwack.
