Serving the community of about 2600 residents, the health centre offers emergency and ambulatory care as well as diagnostic and laboratory services. The health centre shares its space with reception, public health, home and community care, lab & xray, as well as the physician’s office and staff. Open Monday to Friday daytime hours, the emergency department sees approximately 1500 visits annually in its 4 stretcher bays providing emergency services, urgent treatments, and care for patients with booked procedures. Patients requiring a higher level of care are stabilized and transferred to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. There are no overnight holds or inpatient beds.

Most of the staff in Barriere live in the local community. It is clearly demonstrated in their day to day work that they care deeply about the services they provide back to the community through their work in the health center. Knowledgeable, friendly, and supportive is the atmosphere. Here is your opportunity to experience it for yourself!

The clinic and private physician’s office offers 2 exam rooms, very supportive MOAs and a low overhead model. The pace can be leisurely or hectic with ED patients being seen between regular office bookings. Whether you are interested in full time, part time or locum opportunities, if you are a physician who is flexible and enjoys working closely with an integrated team in a rural environment, this could be a great fit for you!
