Palliative Medicine

Fraser Health requires 0.5 FTE Palliative Care Physician for Palliative Care in Burnaby, B.C. providing services to our palliative complex care unit (PCCU) and with the consultation team at Burnaby Hospital. This is a permanent position however, it is not a half-time position. We are looking for a physician to cover our services for six months of the year, during which full-day, Monday to Friday coverage will be provided.

Our integrated, regional, comprehensive hospice palliative care program provides hospice palliative care services in a number of settings including 30 Tertiary Palliative Care beds; consult services in 12 acute care sites as well as in the community and other settings; and support to 106 Hospice beds. In addition to the provision of diverse clinical activities, we also provide under-graduate and post-graduate teaching in affiliation with the Division of Palliative Care at the University of British Columbia.

The successful candidate will have completed a year of added competency program in palliative medicine, will have acquired the Certificate of Added Competence (CAC) through the College of Family Physicians of Canada, or have a minimum of four (4) years of palliative care experience and is eligible for the CAC through the pending practice eligibility route. Eligibility for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia is required, and preference will be given to candidates certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
